Wednesday

First Practise Day

Three Sister's Circuit
25/06/11 Practise Day with SAS Team
Layout: Club Track

The practise day enabled the new cadets to get to grips with the Three Sister's race track, as this is a circuit they will be racing on in the future. Scott took all the cadets on a track walk and explained the best race line to use to get maximum performance. Luke learnt alot from Scotts guidance and soon began to put this to practice.

Luke was not the only one learning from this experience but Tony was coming to grips with the mechanics of the Kart. He didn't do too bad as Luke managed to get his time down to 48.81 on the circuit. However, after changing the tyres too wets Luke didn't seem to confident and found it hard to handle.

Wet conditions.
New team mate Jake Carr and Luke.
Enjoying the new track.

Practicing for the A.R.K.S

Hooton Circuit
20/04/11
To enable Luke to pass his A.R.K.S test and begin racing outdoors, Luke had to begin practicing his driving. We chose Hooton Circuit to practice and became a member of the Cheshire Kart club.Whilst on the circuit Luke began nailing the corners and in turn starting to pick up speed gaining a 43.24, not bad for his second time out.

Practice session

A.R.K.S Test
Hooton Race Circuit
2/06/11

11.00am: One hour classroom study
12.30pm: Written Test
Driving Test

Luke sailed through his A.R.K.S. Test with a 100 %

Luke has to do six races as a novice which on his kart will show a black plate with white numbers, then after he has all six meetings signed by the clark of the course he can send his licence off for a full one and go to a yellow plate with black numbers on his kart. We were very lucky that Scott walker was able to take our kart to hooton so Luke was able to use his own kart for the test.

Practice Day
Hooton Race Circuit
9/07/11

Luke went to this practice day with the SAS team to experience racing with a large number of cadets. Luke did very good keeping in the middle of the pack and achieved his fastest lap at 43.18 a second behind the leader. Luke met and made friends with more cadets and loved the experience. To Lukes disapointment he didn't finish the day due to very poor judgement of another driver who came out of the pit lane in front of him, which ended in Luke taking a flying lesson over the other cadet. Luke was on a spinal board an taken to A&E Chester hospital as he was not responding well, but after a few hours was back to his chatty self with a few bumps and bruises. lucky boy.
